Getting
Here:
The
bustling metropolis of San Francisco is easily accessed from San Francisco
Airport (SFO), which is now thankfully linked into the local train system
(BART). SFO is a hub for United - check into their flights. Don't discount
flights into Oakland (OAK), though - Southwest and Jet Blue both operate
from Oakland, sometimes at great prices. OAK is a bit less convenient
for public transportation, but it's quite possible. Take an AirBart
bus from the airport to the BART station, and that will get you to San
Francisco.
Driving:
A
car is a nice thing to have, but only if you know you can park it. There
will be plenty of parking at the wedding, but make sure it will be available
at your accomodation. Circling the block at 11pm is no fun, and it WILL
happen. 'Nuff said. Oh, and beware of Market Street in downtown - no
left turns, on or off - this can be quite a confusion.
About
BART:
Bay
Area Rapid Transit (BART) is a fast and easy way to get around the region.
It is not, however, the best way to travel within the city. Most of
San Fransisco is well off of BART lines. For carless travel within the
city, depend on cabs (it's a small city, so they're cheap), light rail
(MUNI), or best of all, your feet. San Francisco is a beautiful place
to walk, and the hills make for one heck of a butt workout. More about
BART and MUNI
